Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee or butter
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 inch Ginger, minced
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 2 Star anise
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 cup Water
  • to taste Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. Heat ghee or butter in a pan. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.
  3. 3. Add cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves. Stir for a minute.
  4. 4. Add tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the rinsed rice, chicken broth, and water. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  6. 6. Transfer the mixture to a rice cooker. Cook until the rice is done.
  7. 7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
